This Bee-Line was
recently discovered in the Muskegon, MI area. It is very rough and
will require someone with fiberglass body shop experience, not a
novice restorer. The fins will need reinforcing where they meet the
hull. They are also cracked. The transom will also need replacement,
too. The deck is not fare, none of them were, but this one needs to
be pressed up from underneath to get close.
Starboard Marine restored a
Bee-Line like this a few years ago. The restoration can be seen by
clicking on this link. It is our own personal
boat and we love it. It is a great performing boat even with a 40 to
50 hp motor and is a real head turner. The Bee-Line was produced in
Walker, MI for only one year. It is the most elegant of all the
finned boats. The hull is 15' but the fins sweep back to 16'. The
fins are 7' 8" from tip to tip. The original designer's son said
about 200 were produced. To date, I can account for about 20 that
positively still exist. |
